WELDING RODS & ELECTRODES

Arc welding rods, otherwise known as stick electrodes, are used in the manual metal arc (MMA) process and utilised as a consumable filler material to join metals. From 6013 mild steel to 7016 & 7018 low hydrogen rods and 308 and 316 stainless steel to 309 & 312 dissimilar rods, we stock it.

All welding rods come with factory CE marking and material test certification. To complete a stick welding job with the correct product, study the welding classifications & select product accordingly. Classifications are covered by a four digit code. This code represents coating, strength & positional capability.

Mild & stainless steel Welding Rod by AWS classification

  • 6011; Great for high penetration structural welding where weld integrity is important. An all positional cellulose rod with fast freeze lending itself to overhead & vertical.
  • 6013; Great for the all positional welding of sheet metal
  • 7016 & 7018: Low hydrogen electrodes designed for the welding of high strength steels, where cracking maybe prevalent.
  • 316: Designed for welding 316 type chromium-nickel steel. Great finish.
  • 308: This electrode is meant for welding austenitic types of stainless steel. Suitable for 304 as well as some 321 & 347 materials.
  • 309 : Utilised when welding stainless steel to mild steel or low alloys.
  • 312: A basic rutile electrode for difficult to weld or dissimilar materials.
